Kochi: A cabin crew of the Air India Express was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for allegedly using another cabin crew for smuggling Rs 60 lakh worth gold at Kannur Airport, media reports said
Kannur native Suhail Thanalot (33) is accused of being instrumental in recruiting Surabhi Khatun, who was arrested while smuggling 960 grams gold in her rectum on a Muscat-Kannur flight on Tuesday.
Kolkata native Khatun had smuggled gold in compound form concealed in her rectum. This perhaps the first case in India where an airline crew member was held for smuggling gold.
