Kochi: Controversial firm CMRL chief Sasidharan Kartha’s financial dealings with Kerala Chief Minister’s daughter got murder with the ED sleuths raiding his house in Aluva on Wednesday, media reports said.
The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) questioned Kartha in connection with CMRL paying a huge amount of money to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s daughter Veena Vijayan on a monthly basis as remuneration to IT services by her Exalogic even as no services were found to be provided by her.
ED sleuths reached Sasidharan’s house in Aluva and interrogated him after he failed to appear before the central agency yesterday. However, some key officials of CMRL appeared before the ED yesterday and they were released today.
CMRL had paid Rs 1.72 crore to Exalogic, owned by Veena. In February, the Registrar of Companies (ROC) found that the transaction between CMRL and Exalogic violated the Money Laundering Act and the Anti-Corruption Act.
In March, ED registered a money laundering case against CMRL which had donated over Rs 73 crore to politicians, temples and media houses during 2012-2020, the reports said.
