Kochi: Security was beefed up inThrissur Collectorate after the RDO received an email threatening to blow up the district headquarters, media reports said.
The Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO)
received an email from rana_tahawur@hotmail.com, claimed to blow up the collectorate at 1:30 pm.
The Thrissur City Police and the Bomb Squad swung into action and found the threat as a hoax. Police are probing into the source of the email.
District Collector Arjun Pandyan said that all necessary precautionary measures were taken to ensure safety.
The email threatened to eliminate former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK leader Edappadi Palaniswami in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Jaffar Sadiq drug case. The email had reference to Tamil Nadu Liberation Army and was signed off as ‘S Maran, Trichy Central’.
