Kochi: Heavily debt-ridden KSRTC dismissed 26 employees and suspended 74 others for alcohol related issues, media reports said.
Those suspended were permanent employees while those terminated were temporary employees.
The managenent had conducted raids in 60 units from April 1 to 15 during which cases of a alcohol consumption and alcohol storage by the employees were detected.
One station master, two vehicle supervisors, one security sergent, nine permanent mechanic, one temporary mechanic, 22 permanent conductors, nine temporary conductors, one swift conductor, 39 permanent drivers, 10 temporary drivers and five swift drivers cum conductors came intoxicated during duty hours.
Except women employees, all others are subjected to screening for
intoxication as per the order of the Transport Minister.
KSRTC is sitting on a huge debt taken over last several years due to run the organisation hit by allwged mismanagement and corruption.
