Kochi: Kerala Police Chief Sheikh Darvesh Saheb on Monday recommended action against Additional Director General of Police M R Ajithkumar for giving a false statement against
ADGP P Vijayan, media reports said.
In his report to the Chief Minister, the DGP recommended the government to book Ajith Kumar giving false statement against P Vijayan.
The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) had given a clean chit to Ajithkumar over allegations against him over amassing disproportionate assets a few days back.
Ajith Kumar is considered close to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s favourite.
The case relates to Ajith Kumar’s allegation that Vijayan had links with the gold smuggling gang following which Vijayan lodged his complaint against Ajith Kumar to the DGP. Ajith Kumar is a contender to the DGP’s post after Darvesh Saheb’s retirement on May 31.
Former MLA P V Anvar accused Ajith Kumar of amassing disproportionate wealth.
Once a member of the Left front, Anvar, is now with the Congress-led UDF.
