Kochi: The debt-ridden Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is worried over the state budget not allocating funds for wages and pensions, media reports said.
The KSRTC wants ₹1000 crore for paying pensions and salaries of employees. A total of ₹80 crore is required for payments of pension alone.
The government has allocated ₹107 crore for purchasing new buses and ₹50.7 crore for renovation and e-governance.
The Kerala government has spent about Rs 4,000 crore from the budget for pensions and salaries in the last two years.
A series of revampings has not helped the transport company to generate profits to fend for itself
KSRTC is sitting on a debt of Rs 12,463.78 crore.
