Kochi: A group of ham radio activists has offered its services to the Election Commission and the district administration during the general election in the mountainous areas of Idukki.
Idukki Ham Radio and Disaster Management Society office bearers Manoj Galaxy, P L Nuzamudeen, O N Raju and S Vijayakumar said Ham Radio comes handy when all other communication systems get disrupted.Ham radio requires just a cell to work for days together, the society said in a press release.
The Election Commission had entrusted thethe society to exchange communication during the 2010 local body election in Kerala’s only tribal panchayat of Edamalakudy.
