No respite for Kejriwal

Kochi: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday rejected Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea challenging his arrest by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in Delhi Excise Policy case, media reports said.
On Kejriwal’s argument that he was arrested amidst Lok Sabha elections, the Court said that his arrest and remand has to be examined as per law and not as per timing of elections.
On Kejriwal’s plea that he could have been questioned through video conference, the court said investigation is not done as per the convenience of the accused.
Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 in a money laundering case and produced before the Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court, which remanded him to ED custody till March 28.
His remand was extended till April 1. He was sent to judicial remand till April 15.
He challenged his arrest before the High Court accusing the BJP government of misusing the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in view of Lok Sabha elections.
