Kochi: A court in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday sentenced S S Greeshma, 24, to death for poisoning her boyfriend, Sharon Raj (23) to death, to marry another person, media reports said.
Delivering the verdict, Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court sentenced her uncle Nirmalakumaran Nair to three years jail term for destroying the evidence.
The court in its 586 judgment complimented the police for the investigation backed by forensic evidence.
The two were found guilty by the court on Friday. According to the prosecution, Sharon Raj was lured to Greeshma’s house in Ramavarma Chirai, Tamil Nadu, on October 14, 2022, where he was given an ayurvedic tonic laced with a highly toxic herbicide. He died due to multiple organ failure 11 days later, on October 25, 2022.
The prosecution argued that Greeshma plotted the murder after Sharon refused to end their relationship, even though her marriage had been arranged with another man from Nagercoil.
