Kochi: One person was killed in a powerful explosion that razed a rented house at Keezhara in Kannur’s Kannapuram on wee hours of Saturday, Manorama reported.
The blast shook houses within a radius of 500 metres, V V Pushpavalli, a panchayat member who lives barely 50 metres away.
Investigators suspect the explosion took place while making crude bombs. Unexploded materials were also found at the site.
The house belonged to Govindan, a retired teacher of North Kannapuram Government LP School. He and his family had lived in the house for many years before moving out, reports said.
