Kochi: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh quit on Sunday ahead of the budget session on Monday when Congress was planning to bring a motion against the BJP government.
Singh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi before tendering his resignation.
Singh expressed gratitude to the centre for its support to the government.
He submitted the resignation letter to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at the Raj Bhavan in Imphal.
Singh’s resignation comes after months of unrest in the party.
